CRT was responsible for the hardware selection, installation and set-up of a system to track 1,100 rail cars for a major  Agriculture company.   Using Transcore SmartPass readers, RFID Tags attached to the cars and an integrated system board that converted ASCII tag reads into MS-SQL Server transactions.   The system has been in production for several months and survived hurricane Wilma without a hitch.  Running 24X7, this application has saved thousands of man-hours and replaced a manual, dangerous and error prone process.   Included in the project delivery was a custom ASP.Net web application that provides information on the whereabouts and contents of the 1,1100 rail cars throughout the private rail system.   Future enhancements include hand-held readers and integration with the Maintenance Management system for tracking Rail Car planned maintenance and mainetnance history.
